Challenges Faced by Administrative Officers (AO) II in Managing Property and Supply in the Department of Education (DepEd) Iligan City Elementary Schools

Abstract:

This qualitative case study investigates the challenges encountered by Administrative Officers II (AO IIs) in managing property and supplies in public elementary schools under the Department of Education (DepEd) Iligan City Division. Through in-depth interviews with AO IIs from eight elementary schools, the research explores the specific difficulties they face, the coping strategies they employ, and the lessons they have learned in navigating property and supply management. Findings highlight recurring issues such as the reliance on manual inventory systems, inconsistent documentation, lack of training opportunities, limited budgets, and logistical constraints. In response, AO IIs adopted various coping mechanisms, including the use of basic ICT tools, task delegation, stress management techniques, and collaborative work practices. These efforts emphasized the importance of maintaining accurate records, embracing technology, and pursuing continuous professional growth. The study recommends the integration of digital solutions, enhancement of capacity-building initiatives, and stronger stakeholder engagement to improve management practices.
