Sustainable Asset Management Practices among Administrative Officers in Department of Education Manticao District
Abstract:
This qualitative case study investigates the sustainable asset management practices of administrative officers in the Department of Education (DepEd) Manticao District. Through semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis, the study reveals key strategies including the use of the DepEd Misamis Oriental Inventory Management and Tracking System (DMIMTS) for digital tracking, the upkeep of accurate asset registries, and the incorporation of sustainability measures such as green procurement and routine physical inspections. Despite these proactive efforts, several persistent challenges were identified—among them are constrained financial resources, heavy workloads, insufficient training, policy inconsistencies, and clustering assignments that require Administrative Officers to oversee multiple schools. These issues hinder the efficiency and long-term sustainability of asset management efforts. The study emphasizes the urgent need for standardized operational policies, continuous capacity-building programs, and strengthened digital infrastructure.
