Impact of Cooperative Learning Strategies in Grades IV-VI in Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan (EPP) Subject
Abstract:
This qualitative study examines the use of cooperative learning strategies in Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan (EPP) and the challenges faced during their implementation. Based on in-depth interviews with classroom teachers and focus group discussions with learners, the findings suggest that cooperative learning encourages active participation, develops practical skills, and strengthens collaboration among students. Teachers noted improved learner engagement, enhanced task performance, and more meaningful peer interactions. However, barriers such as insufficient teaching materials, lack of training on cooperative methods, large class sizes, and inconsistent application of strategies were also identified. These challenges point to systemic limitations that constrain the effective integration of cooperative learning in EPP instruction. The study underscores the need for sustained teacher capacity-building, instructional resource support, and curriculum enhancement to institutionalize collaborative teaching practices in the basic education system.
